Oil Summary: Santalol-rich East Indian Sandalwood essential oil is generally considered to be one of the highest quality sandalwood oils available. Due to unsustainable forestry practices in India, availability has diminished and the price has risen substantially. Since it is a very slow-growing tree, taking a minimum of 10 years before it can be harvested, this situation will not likely change anytime soon even if sustainability regulations were to be strictly followed.
