Oil Summary: Pimento Leaf Oil is better known as Allspice in some countries. The reason behind the name Allspice is that its aroma can be described as a mixture of the scents of clove, cinnamon, cardamom, pepper and a few other spices. The essential oil of pimento is extracted by steam distillation of its leaves and fruits. The oil acts as anesthetic and can suppress certain types of pain, including those of neuralgia, bone and muscular injuries. It is also known to prevent bacterial infection, relieve flatulence, reduce stress and stimulate blood circulation. In modern herbal medicine, pimento essential oil is used to relieve pain from sore muscles and joints. Moreover,  its calming and grounding scent helps to combat stress, anxiety, depression, and headaches.

Therefore, always dilute it with a carrier oil such as castor or coconut oil. For people with sensitive skin, a patch test is recommended in the inner forearm to check for any allergic reactions. It is also best to avoid using pimento around sensitive areas such as the ears and eyes. Avoid pimento essential oil If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding because its potency can harm the fetus. Moreover, if under any medication, always consult your doctor before using this oil. Pimento essential oil is rich in Eugenol, which is considered safe for dogs and cats.
