Oil Summary: Spruce Hemlock Essential Oil is also known as Eastern Hemlock Essential Oil. It has fresh, crisp, needle aroma characteristic to firs and most conifers. It is abundant in monoterpenes, hence more prone to oxidation, and also contains about 30-35% esters. Hemlock Oil is anti-microbial and is helpful as a decongestant and expectorant. It also blends well with other diffuser oils. As an expectorant, spruce hemlock essential oil is useful for respiratory health. This is because it has the ability to reduce chest congestion, as well as prevent any respiratory infections due to its antibacterial properties. If you have a cold or severe coughing, add a few drops of spruce hemlock oil in a bowl of hot water and inhale the steam. Alternatively, you can blend the oil with a carrier oil and rub it on your chest for relief. As an effective anti-inflammatory and analgesic, spruce hemlock essential oil also works wonders for the digestive system. This essential oil stimulates digestive secretions and helps alleviate vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, and abdominal pain. As such, it is broadly used to treat Irritable bowel syndrome, which is very common. To use, apply topically by gently massaging a few drops with a carrier oil to your abdominal area.
